To the cylinder block attach the majority of the basic units necessary for work of the engine, such as the generator, a starter, a fuel pump. The cylinder block heel forms an engine crankcase. On both types of engines replaceable sleeves of cylinders which can be replaced if degree of deterioration of cylinders exceeds as much as possible admissible limit are established.
