Some of models of cars Honda are equipped with electronic system of updating of phases of a gas distribution (VTEC). On models Honda Civic system VTEC of one of two various types (VTEC and VTEC-Е) can be used. Distinction between usual engines and the engines equipped with system VTEC, consists in a complete set and a rocker gear mode of functioning. A design of the block of the engine and all hinged knots and units, and also schemes of the organisation of lubricating systems and cooling on both units are identical. Engine outwardly equipped with system VTEC differs presence from above on a cover of a head of cylinders of a convex inscription of the corresponding maintenance (VTEC).
The onboard processor of the models equipped with system VTEC is capable to correct phases of operation and size of opening of inlet valves at the expense of use of various size of cams of a cam shaft. The processor, depending on data arriving from the information gauge, either engages, or switches off system.
As initial parametres for systems VTEC of both types the following is used:
a) the engine speed (rpm);
b) speed of movement of the car (mile/ch);
c) the target signal of the gauge of position of a throttle valve (TPS);
d) current loading on the engine, defined under indications of the gauge of absolute pressure in the inlet pipe duct (МАР);
e) cooling fluid temperature.
Configuration and principle of functioning of systems VTEC-E differ from those for systems VTEC a little.
